Hey UMMS Public Affairs Team!
My name is Donald “DJ” Mirisola. Check out my work:
Here’s what I do.
I’m a technical multimedia producer with a passion for telling stories and digital art. With a background in both Digital Storytelling and video editing, I combine my knowledge of storytelling with my passion for digital artistic expression. I reside in Baltimore, MD. and I love finding new ways to connect with my audience. I’m hungry for knowledge and I’m excited about all aspects of video editing, audio/video production and motion graphics.

Here are some projects the Public Affairs team might like:
What is Food Insecurity?
Originally created for the show MC in Focus, this animation was created using using open source .mogrt templates and Character Animator rigs. I used this project to showcase and highlight the power of design and merging elements to tell a story. I wrote, directed, produced and edited the final piece. It was edited using Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Character Animator.
The Black Girl
Hand Games Project
Created for the Smithsonian Institute’s Folklife Festival, I collaborated with a small team to create this piece. Filmed over 1 day, the final project was completed in less than 48 hours. The BGHG Project is all about teaching young women of color in Washington D.C. concepts like safe touch and empowerment through old school hand games like Miss Mary Mac.
I was in charge of all aspects of production, but I am particularly happy with the post production. I completely edited this piece using the Adobe Creative Suite. All video editing was done in Premiere with the Audio mix being done in Audition. Audio had to be heavily mixed to reduce and remove a large scale Go-Go music workshop in the background of the interview. The final product became the most viewed video for 2019’s Folklife Festival created by MCTV.
Graduating COVID
This production was created for MCTV’s Outlook Montgomery Project. In this video, I completed all aspects of production entirely while quarantined. This documentary was created using traditional Zoom messaging software, and a Panasonic GH5. The motion graphics and animation were generated in CreateStudio & Adobe Creative Suite.
#RadioCamper2020
Tasked with covering the perspective of U.S. citizens and the election, Radio-Télévision Suisse had two journalists travel from the southern border to the northern border. I was put in charge of all video production that accompanied every radio and web story. These videos were pitched, produced, shot and edited in an 18 hour turnaround time. These videos went on to capture a combined 10,000+ view across their social media and web channels. Videos were produced using a Panasonic GH5, Samsung A51 and were edited with the Adobe Creative Suite. I assisted and worked on all aspects of this production.
